Beginning and Intermediate Classes

Our Beginning and Intermediate classes are taught with foil, the standard training weapon and the weapon most commonly used to introduce new students to the sport of fencing. Classes are open to students as young as 7 years old and to adults well into their 80s. Each course consists of nine sessions designed to build skills, confidence, and a lifelong appreciation for the sport.

Beginning Fencing

Our Beginning Fencing class is the perfect introduction to Olympic-style fencing. Over nine 60-minute sessions, students learn the fundamental skills, movements, terminology, attacks, and defenses that form the foundation of the sport. No prior experience is required, and all necessary equipment is provided. By the end of the course, students will have a solid understanding of fencing and be able to determine whether they would like to continue their fencing journey.

2026-2027 Season Cost: $315

Intermediate Fencing

The Intermediate Fencing class builds upon the skills learned in Beginning Fencing and introduces the tactical and bouting concepts needed to participate fully in club activities. Classes meet for 75 minutes and are designed to be taken twice. During the first session, students learn new actions and concepts; during the second, they refine their technique and develop a deeper understanding of when and why to use those actions.

Students train alongside more experienced fencers, reinforcing one of the club’s core values: everyone works together to help one another improve. Intermediate students are expected to purchase their own glove and foil, allowing them to practice skills outside of class. Upon successful completion of the Intermediate class, students are eligible to join one of our training programs and participate in club and team competitions.

2026-2027 Season Pricing:
