Mother Nature is making up for the mild December and most of January weather. We are being hit with a 22-hour snowstorm. I am hoping for better weather this spring! So unfortunately, there will be no training groups nor classes tonight, Tuesday February 28. I am hoping for better weather this spring.

Yet another winter storm tonight. It never seems to end this winter! While it may not be bad at the beginning of classes and club tonight, we are expecting icing and freezing rain in the middle of both. So after talking to Maureen (Bugsy is on a cruise in warm weather) and my wife Robin, we are closing both Rochester and Manchester tonight, Thursday, February 23.

So stay home, stay safe, and stay warm.

The second Seacoast Team Meet is Sunday, January 8, at our club in Rochester NH.  It is time to sign up for our first fencing opportunity of the new year!  Do so on Google Sheets (below).  Type your name under the events you want to enter.  You can enter as many as two events at the same starting time.

SFC Team Meet – Google Sheets

Pre-registration closes at midnight on Thursday, January 5, but please don’t wait until the last minute- your coach gets nervous (plus he has to line up director/coaches).

This is a great way to start 2023 and interact with the Seacoast fencers from both clubs.  You don’t have to be a competitive member of the USFA, since this is a club meet.  It will be all electric (rental gear will be available).  If you are new to the training groups, this is your first opportunity to try electric competition-so don’t miss it!

Age is your age on Dec 31, 2022.  Morning events are 14 & Under Foil, 10 & Under Foil, and Junior & Adult Epee (17 & older).  These will start at 10:00 am. You should be done around 1:30. For the morning events, be there between 9:15 and 9:30 to register and to have time to warm up.

Afternoon events are 12 & Under Foil, Cadet Foil (16 & under), and Junior & Adult Foil (17 & older). These will start at 1:30 pm. You should be done around 4:30. For the afternoon events, be there between 12:45 and 1:00 pm to register and to have time to warm up

There will be a maximum of three rounds of fencing (if we have enough teams), each taking about an hour.  Age groups may be combined if there are not at least six people signed up.

Collegiate format- each member of your team fences five touch bouts with each member of the opposing team.

National Training Group fencers, please come in and direct and coach the morning events, and you can fence an afternoon event for free!  Lunch will be provided for directors.  The new fencers need your expertise to make their event a good experience.  And remember, someone did this for you when you were first starting out.

Entry fee is $25 for the morning events, which includes the director fee of $5.  Entry fee for the afternoon events is $15, which will be self-directed).

Rental gear is available for $15 (electric foil and lame)

The class will be taught by the head coach (Chris Pullo). Tuition is $110.
