Qualifying Meet for Summer National Fencing Championships in May

I am in the process of putting together the qualifying tournament for the Northeast Division (clubs and fencers in Maine and New Hampshire) for the Summer National Championships in July. The qualifier will be on the weekend of May 22 & 23, and will be at the Rochester facility.

These are for the Cadet (birth year 2004 to 2007), Junior (birth year 2001 to 2007, and Div 2 & 3 (2007 or earlier).  All three meets will have six events: Three men’s events- Foil, Epee, & Saber; and three women’s events- also Foil, Epee, & Saber.

These events will determine who is allowed to go to the Summer National Championships, this year in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on July 3 thru 12.  The top three (or top 25% of the entries, if that is more) in each event will qualify.  You do not need to intend to go to the Nationals to participate in these qualifiersIf you want to fence the other members of other clubs in the Northeast Division, this is your only opportunity to do so until next September.

Please email me at cjpullo@gmail.com if you are considering entering any, or all of the events.  This will help me organize the meet that weekend.  It may be on one day, or both days.

Please let me know before this Saturday, April 24.  You will not be entering anything at this point, just letting me know if you think you will want to compete on May 22 and/or 23.

Seacoast Team Meet on Sunday, April 11

Just a reminder about the Seacoast Team Meet event this Sunday!  We have added a Novice Foil event in the morning. Novices are fencers who took their first fencing class less than two years ago).  Sign up via the link below if you want to compete.

The fourth Seacoast team meet will be held on Sunday, April 11, at the Rochester facility (261 North Main St).  This is only for members of the Seacoast Fencing Club in either Rochester or Manchester. Entry fee is $20 for the morning events (where a director will be provided), and afternoon events will be $15, and will be self-directed.

All events will be scored electrically, and electric equipment will be available for rent ($10 for a weapon, $10 for lame). And we will have knickers available as well (no charge- but you must take them home and wash them, and bring them to the next club meeting).  You must have your own body cord, and you can buy them at the meet for $30.

The teams will follow the collegiate format, where each bout is for five touches, and each team member bouts with all the fencers of the opposing team.

If we have enough entries for more than two teams, it will be strictly a team format. If there are only two teams, we will have an individual event, which will then be used to seed the two teams. FYI- As long as we have at least five entries in an event, I can make teams. If an event has fewer than five fencers signed up by Friday morning I will cancel that event, and email the preregistered fencers of that action.

Below is the spreadsheet to sign up for this meet.
